Wah - Wah - Wah!

Well September has come and gone hasn't it?  We certainly didn't make our September trip timeline with the Airstream (and working on the A/C has been replaced with working on the heater as Fall sets in) - but we did have a GREAT time at the Shrimp n' Grits festival in Jekyll Island even without the Airstream (luckily our friends have a pop-up camper - worked out just great!)
Friday night Eric and I headed down there early for the $3 sample night!  Heck yea!  $3 samples of shrimp and grits!  We were both full for $18 and it was byob - combined with camping - this was a GREAT vacation idea (cheap!)
Eric on the dock on Friday night

 Some cool boats piled up

 And the awesome bar
Saturday we went back to the festival to see the sights, eat more (not as cheap) Shrimp n Grits and browse the craft tents.  It was very fun.

(All of us out on the docks Saturday)

Saturday evening we went for a bike ride and ended up over on Driftwood Beach for sunset - GORGEOUS!

 Even picturesque shrimp boats out...

We took full advantage of the gorgeous night and perfect sunset and wore our cameras out.

Eric and I - Andrea and Tim

Of course Eric had to pull some shananigans...

and we took full advantage - ha ha ha!

Finally we headed out to dinner, which involved some more byob - and oysters (and Clemson football).  All in all it was a GREAT weekend! (as witnessed by Eric's gigantic grin!)
Lots more fun stuff going on and upcoming - I'll try to be better about posting!

Trailer Progress...

I believe in the last post I mentioned something about...
"Now off to check the brakes and bearings, repack the hubs, buff the entire outside, get a new water heater, check the AC, paint the hitch and lay a new floor... that ought to give me enough time to make new curtains, upholster three beds and update the kitchen."
Well in that list - we have been busy checking the brakes and bearings, repacking the hubs, installing a new water heater, finding unknown problems (can you say poopy tank?!  lol) and moving on (soon maybe) to the A/C (with the stipulation that we don't find any new unknown problems - can you say plumbing?)

Finishing up the water heater

soo proud!  He is doing so great!

In the same breath I've ordered YARDS of fabric and custom cut foam.  Made pillows and bought curtain patterns.

Arcadia String Quilt Pillow - but soo many more to go...

We are working hard towards our September timeline (though I think research on the 200+ hours to buff the outside of the trailer has put that out of scope for now).  Things are going well and we are having fun - hopefully more trailer updates soon!

Airstream : After

After the big clean up - this is what the trailer is looking like these days...

inside the door

 the front bed

the now CLEAN wall!

the kitchen

and down the back hall

the bathroom

  and closer

and finally...the man - very very happy with how his plan (and all his hard work) have turned out!

You did a GREAT job honey - now off to check the brakes and bearings, repack the hubs, buff the entire outside, get a new water heater, check the AC, paint the hitch and lay a new floor... that ought to give me enough time to make new curtains, upholster three beds and update the kitchen. Oh well - at least we are off to a great start - I see a ktichy awesome trailer in our future!  :)

Airstream : Before

Well - you may remember a post quite some time ago about us getting an Airstream trailer (or rather inheriting one).  Well - we didn't get to it this Winter - but we did get to it.  (and by we - I totally mean just Eric - lol! - this skeptical wife thought we should gut it - or rather pay someone ELSE to gut it!) But Eric has been working really hard almost every night out getting the trailer cleaned up and ready to roll.

I decided I would take on the curtains, beds, etc once he got things 'cleaned up' and I'll link you up to my Crafty Blog when that happens.  In the meantime, my job is documentation - before and after pictures... and boy oh boy - here is the before ...
(caution - VERY photo loaded post!)

This is as you entered the door.

The front bed / dinette area

The NASTY, grody wall and creepy elf

There will be a brighter day...

One of the many promises God so faithfully keeps to all of us, but there will be a brighter day.  We are skipping ahead from the fishing to present day (although you did miss alot in between) b/c my external hard drive (that carried all my pictures (not to mention ALOT of other things) has quit working - to the tune of $600 to maybe fix, quit working) so - we skip ahead to the present.  On our date night the other night Eric and I saw this amazing representation of a Rainbow (reminding me always of the promise God made to us - and of my Pappap.  This was the exact same type of rainbow we saw on the day of his funeral.  Not just one - but two FULL rainbows - amazing!)  How GREAT is our GOD !

He also gives us great friends and we had a good time with them last night at the Greenjackets game.  It was Will's first baseball game and he came decked in his Chicago gear (Cubs bib for his mama - which he had already spit up on and been stripped down to his White Sox gear - for his dad!)

He was sooo excited and animatedly watching all that was going on around him.

Its a running joke that he only cries when the Furman's are around.  Chris wanted to dispel this rumor and proved that it might, in fact, just be Melissa Furman that makes Will cry.  Unfortunately, he might have actually proven his point with this picture!

(also - I don't think he saw me take this other one)... it was the Seventh Inning Stretch and they were playing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame!" and Chris was singing to Will and doing little 'dances' and 'stretches' with him - SO.STINKING.CUTE!!!

Mason goes Fishing...

Mason loves going out on the boat.

Eric loves to go fishing - so Mason gets to go out on the boat alot in the Spring.
But we learned the other night that Mason likes fishing too...
specifically he likes fishing in the live well for the bait...
while Eric drives the boat and he THINKS no one is looking...

The other night - Mason finally had some luck - and landed himself a herring...

It was hilarious b/c he was trying to hide the fact that he had a fish under his nose from us - looking all innocent.  But then he couldn't control himself and he would lick the fish - and the fish would go nuts.  ha ha ha!  I let him play with the fish for a little bit, then I threw him back in the water.  I figured after the dog dragging him out of the livewell and playing with him he had earned his freedom!  lol

 Cutest dog E.V.E.R!
(even if he is full of mischief!)

Weekend with Mom - the Wrap-up!

I figure I better get in gear and post the rest of our FUN weekend with Mom b/c I'm falling waaay behind and we have alot more to tell - so this will be alot of pictures, less words (well, I'll try....)

Saturday we went for a walk with the dog and then played frisbee in the park.  Lots of fun - and GREAT weather for enjoying it...

(ha!  I even look athletic here!)

Then we got ready for the Main Event!  A canal tour.  How Much FUN!!  On this tour we saw...
The perfect job for my dad...captain of a canal boat.
Up and down the canal - enjoying the great weather - people clapping for your maneuvering skills!

We also saw the creek that runs through Augusta National

The tour was BYOB (again - how fun!) and we had our own wine and cheese appetizers

The final destination was the Dam at the beginning of the canal...

Then we headed back down the canal - with a gorgeous sunset

and out to dinner.  What a GREAT weekend!
(we miss you mama!  come back soon!!  xoxo!)
