Chicago

This past weekend we finally got to meet my nephew!!  We flew to Chicago and spent four wonderful days getting to know Drew (and spoiling him - giving him lots of Aunt Nikki love and kisses) and enjoying time with Chad and Kelly.  I've got hundreds of pictures, so I'll just start with a highlight of the star of the show...

Drew

um....isn't he the SWEETEST?!?  I wanted to eat him up!  And he is such a good baby too!!  We had a GREAT time and I have ALOT more to show you, but for now, Drew with his Aunt Nikki (loving him up!)

Family Fun

This past weekend started a couple great weeks of Family Fun!!  This past weekend my little brother, Beck, and his girlfriend, Katie, stopped at our house on their Spring Break.  Augusta is not the most exciting place to entertain guests, so I was glad when I found a horse race for us to attend.  Katie is a horse person (so I had been told) and I was glad to have something fun planned!  It was a so-so day (it did get cloudy and VERY windy - little bit of rain) but we endured and had a lot of fun.

We had a tailgating spot right near the starting line (which was fun - but made it hard to see the finish line!)

and, they're off!

Eric celebrating the event in true 'redneck' style.  (I love my beau, he makes me smile and laugh!)

Beck and Katie
(omg - aren't they adorable?!?)

and the four of us...

We went and visited the stables a bit too - so pictureusque

I really enjoyed having my little brother in town and getting to spend time with him (and meeting Katie).

(miss you Beck!)

This weekend we go to see the other brother (and the baby!!  eek!  I'm sooo excited!)

Fickle Weather, Part II

So after the snow storm of the century, about two weeks later we were right back to normal (nice!) temperatures - high sixties and sunny!  What do you do when its finally sunny and nice?!?
You rake the yard of course...

Which takes HOURS if you haven't done it all year ...

Then finally if you get tired of raking, you start wrestling the dog...and right in a pile of pine needles that had already been raked up!!  Oh well - they had fun....

and he kept coming back for more...

Is it Spring where you are?!  What have you been doing?  :)

Fickle Weather

Before we get too far removed from it - my dad wanted to see the snow we had here in the South.  The last one didn't last too long and only amounted in about 1/2 inch of accumulation (and even then only in Edgefield and not five miles down the road).  But over Valentine's weekend we had the Blizzard of the year for SC.  INCHES (I'm talking five or six! of snow!!)

This is a pretty significant event here in the deep south.... so I'll (pretty much) let the pictures speak for themselves.  (Only noting that Eric was at home with the dog - who LOVES snow and went nuts playing in it, and I was in Bowman for my knitting weekend with the girls - so we had different perspectives)

At our house...

In Bowman
(it was so gorgeous b/c we were so far out and the snow was totally untouched!)
Friday night...

Saturday morning

Now its 74 degrees and gorgeous!  Although I did enjoy the novelty of the snow down here, I'm glad that the South I know and love (and adopted as home) has finally decided to make a reappearance.  More on that tomorrow.

Be Thankful

"Be Thankful, for all He has done.
Be Thankful, from the bottom of your heart
Be Thankful, for all He has done
'Cuz Jesus is good to meeee!"

This is my FAVORITE hymn that the little kids at our church sing.  Its soo much fun to see how excited they are when they say "THANKFUL".  (link is kids singing that song on you tube- not my church - but you get the idea!)  And I want to say that I am still on my journey during Lent of being Thankful (and still no Diet Coke - how many more days?!)  Last weekend I was Thankful I had a husband around to take care of this...

Oh?!  You can't see what that is hanging on my paper towel around all my dirty dishes?  Let me get you closer...

That's right!!  Its a bat!  A BAT!  IN OUR HOUSE!!  and I sound shocked and upset - but really its more just upset at this point b/c this is the FOURTH bat we've had in our house in the three years we have lived out here in the scary country!  They all have their exciting/entertaining story - but this is the first time the bat was 'sleeping' instead of flying at our heads so I decided to get the camera out for photographic evidence.  We got rid of him the way we normally have (minus the flying and screaming) - a net...

Awesome!  I was very very glad the bat didn't wake up and fly and screech at us.  We sat him outside and he slept the day away - right there on the paper towel roll until dark and "poof" we looked and he was gone.

Here's hoping he didn't just fly back into our house.

One more day, one more reason I'm very Thankful that God gave me this guy...

Our Family's brave and fearless leader!  Love you honey! muah!
