Chim-Chimeny Chim Chim Cheroo!

That is my favorite song from Mary Poppins and as soon as Eric started to clean the chimney, tie open the floo and all this soot fell in his face I knew this was gonna be the title of this post!

We had some friends over last week (for a yummy fried turkey very Thanksgiving like meal) and that was our payment for the boys helping Eric put in the massive and heavy fireplace insert. This is hopefully going to save us hundreds this winter (on our power bill) and even more exciting actually make our house WARM! I am stoked!
The boys brought it in on a hand truck...

And then proceeded to lift it into the fireplace (this is why we needed four boys! and a big hearty meal!)

After the other guys left Eric finished insulating it, hooking everything up and centering it on the fireplace. To say he was dirty afterwards would be an understatement. But sweet success and hopefully warmth for the winter!

It was pretty late so I didn't get a shot with all the utensils back on the hearth and everything back in place - but that will make a nice Christmas shot (or another post b/c Melissa and I think a 'homestead' night of 18th century cooking is in order! ha ha!)
