The morning shrimping wasn't so great - we caught a few - and this CRAZY thing...does anyone have any idea what it is? We caught one another time (at night) and it glowed GREEN!! It was the CRAZIEST thing... We took pictures this time to look him up!
And led by our fearless captain...
we ended up going back out that night. Luckily, I didn't bring my camera for that - and even if I had all the pictures I would have been able to show you would have been of complete darkness. See - this DENSE (I am not even kidding or exaggerating here) fog set in. Like, can't see your next pole 10 ft away fog. And the entire land disappeared. You couldn't see ONE light from the land - anywhere! There was no reference for what direction to head - it was sooo scary! (even scarier b/c we aren't locals, it was pitch black, and we had no GPS). LUCKILY we were shrimping next to some friends of ours - and at 100 yds off all we could see was the light on their boat. We used their GPS to idle back into the boat launch, with a convoy of boats following us (and Eric and Jonathan literally singing "Convoy" back and forth to each other over the radio).
We made it home, and lived to tell the story. We still didn't fill a cooler (this 'cooler out' thing alludes us!) but we did catch 10 quart bags and some were huge. I don't know that I would call it 'fun' though and Eric owes me a dinner out in Charleston for taking me out shrimping instead of our planned trip to Basil. Ah well...
Next weekend is our anniversary <3 . I can't believe a year has gone by already! Its been soo fun - maybe we will relive the wedding a bit this week! :) Take a break from all this shrimping...
